1st Post... The Birth of Something Epic.... And for the love of cookies...

I suppose any great blog, or even more run of the mill ones starts with the first post... Here we go...

A bit about me...

I've always considered myself a bit of a creative guy though never picked up drawing and never was good with sculptures. Figure writing is the way to go since both reading and writing is something that anyone over the age of 2 gets pounded into their head until leaving school. I am slowly chipping away at one of problably 4 novel ideas currently and have a bunch of ideas for short stories. Nothing published yet but not from lack of trying. A friend or two has suggested that I do the blog thing when not actually trying to write the next Great American Novel...

The gamer thing is a distraction that I started in some form since I was a kid. When I was 8, I learned chess from the old man as well as pool (the billards kind), and occasionally played some sort of gin rummy with the family. Did Magic and Epic Space Marines in my teens and started to embrace gamer geekdom more and more once out of college. I did the WOW thing for a bit but quit cold turkey for want of more time and have the option of a social life. (Pertante is the name of my only lvl 80 for those who are curious)

Romance is, well, a bit elusive at times. Being a single guy has it's ups and downs but ultimately something that I want to do without long term. There is the online thing, which is nice. It provides a certain convience and has the potential to avoid some confusion.

However, there is something to be said to actually meeting someone face to face 1st and then getting their number. I often wonder if this is a lost art or something I still have to figure out.

Don't get me wrong, I have had past relationships and occasionally go out on a date (with a real woman as opposed to a WOW character). I know that being a gamer geek can be seen by some as dating kriptonite. However, not every gamer has the "poor hygene, live in parents basement, and is either a science expert, mathmetician, or programmer" stereotype. I, for one, shower daily, moved out of my parents years ago, and do not have gainful employment in any of those aforementioned fields, thank you very much. I figure I mention gaming when appropriate when meeting someone new, or at least try to.

For the Blog...

The purpose of this particular blog will, of course, be my soap box for my exploits as a writer, gamer, single guy, and as someone who believes that Murphy of Murphy's Law is not only alive but has a sense of humor. In fact, I still need to write the Catholic Church to recommend that Murphy be reconsidered for sainthood. I will do my best to post regularly and be at the least moderately entertaining.

Enjoy!

PS I prefer moist chocolate chip cookies. Oatmel raisian is an exceptable substitute when chocolate chip is not available.....
